TSR News | 5 Oct 2009
Here at TSR we have profiles a variety of the top ranked prospects for both the 2010 and 2011 NHL drafts. While it is easy to identify the top ranked players, we want to hear who you want us to provide some content about. Here’s your chance, just post a comment here with the player you want to hear about, and why, and we’ll do our best to incorporate them into some future work!

Tyler Seguin and Jon Merrill
Matt Pettgrave, Austin Levi, Saverio Posa (’92 def in general)
Gregg Sutch
Thanks for the replies, guys. We’ll definitely have some stuff on Seguin and Merrill coming up.
Sutch is a player I would be seeing on Sunday against London, but he’s been out of the line-up for Mississauga thus far, but we can definitely incorporate him into something.
As for Petgrave/Levi/Posa. I’ve seen Petgrave and Levi and they’re nothing to write home about. From what I’ve heard about Posa, I’d probably have to say Levi is the best of the bunch, but after seeing him a couple of times, I’m really not sure if he is on the NHL radar at all at the moment.
Thanks again guys!
Hi Scott,
Yes, I believe Sutch will be out for a 2-3 more weeks unfortunately.
If you’re in Missy on Sunday, perhaps a blurb on Smith-Pelly and Jordan Mayer (91) on the Majors, and Knight on the Knights (say that last part 3 times quickly!
.
Sorry if I’m asking for too much, or players that may not be ‘high profile’ enough.
Thanks.
Was hoping for something with a little more depth like this… http://ohlprospects.blogspot.com/2009/10/thoughts-on-plymouth-and-owen-sound.html
That can definitely be arranged. I’m seeing a few games this weekend starting tonight, so I’ll probably summarize all of them early next week!
Ah yes, Brock does a good job with his write-ups for sure. One of the problems for me personally is that during games I do Steva work for the Wolves, so it’s pretty hard for me to write notes about certain guys and remember everything about all the guys.
Also I don’t really like to be absolute after watching games on TV. I like to watch guys away from the puck a lot to see what types of players they are, and you definitely lose that element when you watch a game on TV.
Hi Scott C,
Will you be taking in the U-17′s?
It’s a poorly covered event due to the conflict with the U-20′s.
It would make for great insight on the 93′s.
Thanks.
Duncan,
I’m thinking about it right now, so I’ll probably decide soon. I’ll be in New York over Christmas to see the Islanders and Rangers, but right now it’s definitely a possibility to go to Timmins.
Hey great job guys,
I am intrigued with a bunch of defensemen from the USA-NTDP.. They have four defensemen listed 6’4 or above and in the overall top 40 prospects.. But I can’t find any info on these guys (Derek Forbort, Stephen Johns, Jarred Tinordi, and John Merrill)… I would love to see write-ups on these guys… Also, is there a site that focuses on the USA-NTDP’s??? It is hard to find info on these players… thanks for the great work.
Hey Robert,
Our USHL guy will be seeing the NTDP play in the USHL before the year is out, but I’m not sure if it’s the U18 team or the U17 that’s going to be playing. I know it’s hard to find information on them, and logistically most of our guys aren’t anywhere near where the U18 team plays, which is unfortunate. As you said, they have a lot of guys that will be in the 20-40 range, but we’ll try to get some content on them throughout the season, for sure!
I’d like info on Quinton Howden, Emerson Etem, Jeff Skinner & John McFarland.
Andre,
I can definitely help you out with McFarland, as I’ve seen him over 50+ times in the last two seasons. I’ve seen Skinner a bit this season, but I’ll be seeing him live at the end of the month when we travel to Kitchener. As for the two WHL guys, I know about them, but I’ll speak with our WHL contributors and see if they’re seeing Moose Jaw or Medicine Hat any time soon.
Northeast players
Steve Miller, Jim Vesey, Devin Tringale, and Desmond Bergin.
